ABOUT THE LIBRARY

A Learning Resource Centre

The our school library has a collection of over 3000 books and many other Referential Tools.​

Our library is well furnished, our library has full natural light. There is a seating arrangement for 30 Students. Classification of library books done by DDC scheme and cataloguing done by AACR-2 rule. Our Library is offering online services to the members of the library through this library website.

Library is a place where the documents are kept for use. Library is a throbbing heart of any  educational institution

The GBSS No.1 library, with best of its efforts, is contributing to the mission of the school. A good collection of reading material is maintained by annually acquiring books on the recommendation of library purchase committee from the MEGA BOOK FAIR organized by the Directorate of Education GNCT.

In order to achieve its objective, library maintains ambiance of library appealing to its visitors and conducts various activities to attract students to the library and ultimately to the books of their choice.

The GBSS No.1 library with its excellent collection of books, periodicals and a variety of services, acts as a support and inspiration to the teaching and learning community of the School.

The school library provides information and ideas that are fundamental to functioning successfully in today’s information and knowledge-based society. The school library equips students with life-long learning skills and develops the imagination, enabling them to live as responsible citizens.

Library Rules

  1. All students and staff of the school are members of the library.

  2. A student can borrow only two book for class VI to VIII  students and four books (Three General books + 01 Subjective books) for class IX to X  students at a time for a period of two weeks.

  3. A staff member can borrow a maximum of five books at a time for a period of one month.

  4. Books will be issued to the students, during the library periods. No book will be issued or returned during the teaching hours.

  5. Cutting, Marking, underlining or writing on library books, periodicals, and newspapers are strictly prohibited.

  6.  Reference books like encyclopedias, dictionaries, Atlas, Globe, Textbooks etc. and current periodicals will not be issued to any member. These can be consulted in the library during the library periods.  However, for the purpose of project work and special assignments the students may get these books issued on request from the concerned teacher.

  7. The Librarian may call for a book at any time, even if the normal period of loan has not expired.

  8. After reading, make sure that the books, periodicals and newspapers are kept back at their respective places.

  9. The members should take good care of library furnishings and equipment. Make sure the library looks as good when you leave as it did when you came in.

  10. Drinks and food are not allowed in the Library.

  11. A ‘No Dues Certificate’  is to be obtained by each student from the Librarian while his/her transfer/withdrawal from the school.

  12. Strict order and silence shall be maintained in the library and speak softly if needed.

  6. Provide the students with appropriate library materials both printed as well as audio visual and services for the overall growth and development of the personality of the students as an individual.

  7. Develop reading ability and interest, and inculcate love, enjoyment and pleasure of reading amongst the students.

  8. Assist the students to become skillful and discriminating users of library.

  9. Offer opportunities for experiences in creating and using information for knowledge, understanding, information and enjoyment.

  10. Workout a programmed in consultation with teachers for the effective use of all types of library materials.

Diploma in System and Networking from NIIT.
