Dr. Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan

(born August 9, 1892, Shiyali, Madras, India—died September 27, 1972, Bangalore, Mysore), Indian librarian and mathematician who was considered the father of library science in India. His most notable contributions to the field were his five laws of library science and the development of the first major faceted classification system, the colon classification.
